Things to look for:
1.) How many jobs will Apple create with it’s device?
Steve Jobs revolutionized the app store business, making it possible for developers to reach customers directly. Expect Apple to do the same with multimedia. The multi-colored background in the Apple invite, In my opinion, connects more so with artists rather than the print companies being mentioned.
2.) Who are the key players involved in delivering content?
Obviously it’s all about content, content, content. Will Apple landlock the tablet through Time Warner, Comcast, or Fox to name a few. And what exactly will be the media format of choice? The Adobe Flash player has been proven to be quite reliable when it comes to streaming content. Will Apple surprise us all and provide the Adobe Flash player in their tablet device? Howabout this for a bombshell. Apple offers Microsoft’s Silverlight player, instead. Will Quicktime suffice?
3.) Price point for interactive content…
We should be hearing about these new interactive magazines and the real question will be pertaining to the target price point of the subscription service. With more ads, will Apple force content providers to stomach a majority of cost? Will Apple have to approve every ad being filtered to the tablet? Are we to see an overhall to the traditional tv model, or something else entirely?
Steve Jobs is brilliant. But brilliant people bring about horrible tragedy. I hope the tablet lives up to the hype.
