Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

I just received this email from AT&T. Interesting. It’s nice to know they are spending my money upgrading their infrastructure.

Dear Timothy Harris,
September 8, 2010

I am writing to thank you for choosing AT&T for your wireless service, and to update you on exciting plans we have to make your wireless experience even better.

You already know that AT&T covers 97% of all Americans. And as an AT&T customer, you have access to the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network; a mobile broadband network that allows you to talk and browse the web at the same time; and seamless access to over 20,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots – more than any other U.S. wireless provider.

But you may not know the extent of our plans to improve your experience. In 2010 alone, we plan to invest between $18 and $19 billion in our wireless and wireline networks across the country. In fact, we’ve invested more in our networks over the last three years than any of our U.S. competitors. We’ve already upgraded our cell sites to enable faster mobile broadband speeds when paired with expanded backhaul, and we plan a similar upgrade at the end of the year that will enable even faster speeds.

We’re not stopping there. We are also adding thousands of new cell sites, expanding mobile broadband coverage to millions of customers, installing enhanced fiber backhaul, and increasing the capacity of our data network. Not only do these enhancements provide a better experience today, but they also enable a seamless migration to our next generation of mobile broadband – LTE.

What this means to you is simple: better coverage where it matters most, and fast access to information on the go.

Your satisfaction is always our number one goal. If you have any needs or questions about what AT&T can do for you, I invite you to stop by your local AT&T store, visit att.com, or come tell us what you think at www.facebook.com/ATT.

Again, thank you for being our customer.

Sincerely,

Adam Vital

Kewl tips when operating Snow Leopard.

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

When operating Snow Leopard, check to see if some of these tips below help you out any. Feel free to comment on your own. I admit, I’m still a newbie when it comes to OS 10.6

Beware the patent trolls.

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

I was listening to this week’s TWIT when I heard a comment from Leo Leoporte regarding some guy that had a patent out for “episodic content.” I couldn’t believe my eyes when I found this to be true. Apparently this is “old news,” but hey, I’m about to get married, had a bit of drama last year, so I guess some news fell through the cracks. This, however, should have caught my eye. And for those of you who don’t know, I thought I’d reinvigorate the conversation once again. I had always known there to be a reason why Apple didn’t push magazine subscriptions through its store front. Now I know why.

Not sure how to replace your .mac account?

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Try Google Sync, instead!  I loved how .mac synced not only emails, but calendars and contacts from my phone to the cloud, and when I decided to yank my .mac account, I found myself scrambling for an alternative. That’s when I found a little gem at Google called Google Sync! Now you should be able to add items to your calendars, sync contact lists and email, without having to copy and paste those long pesky urls in your phone.  Enjoy!

Starcraft 2 is f*ing phat!

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Give people what they want, and they will buy it. Boy, did Blizzard deliver. I purchased the ultimate collector’s edition of Starcraft 2. Yea, it was pricey. Being the Illustrator that I am, I take great pride in a product which spotlights its conceptual artist crew, acknowledges the music (thank you soundtrack guy!), and provides homage to its roots. Blizzard is proud of what they have done and the collector’s edition does not disappoint.

Now keep in mind, when I was growing up I was a big Command and Conquer (Westwood Studios) fan.  The cult hit which was Starcraft 2 never appealed to me.  Having witnessed EA’s cannibalisation of the C&C franchise as of late, I was ready for a sure thing.  And after all…I thought PC gaming was done! Ssshhhhhhyeaaaa!  Right! I don’t know if this is legal or not, but I have provided a pic of one of the cinematic sequences below.  All in game 3d thank you very much.  Kudos to the art crew.  Starcraft 2 in game sequences put any XBOX title to shame.  It just looks THAT beautiful.  From the IK all the way to the texture mapping, I just got goose bumps all over.  OK!  I have to see more.  What more have you given me to look at, Blizzard?

The game itself is awe inspiring.  My question with this title was simple.  How is Blizzard going to revamp in game graphics and keep frame rates down at the same time?  Leave it to a few artistic geniuses to figure that one out.  You get lost in watching the skeletal sequences of each little unit in action, enough so that I didn’t even realize the lush organic 3D landscapes scrolling from side to side.  Volumetrics are perfect.  I’ve always played RTS games panned out a bit.  Yet, Starcraft 2 had me in my seat with the very first mission, zoomed in Dungeon Siege style, ready to take on the next nasty.

Now people are blasting the game for issues which have nothing to do with the actual game.  You know, some of us actually have jobs that we don’t have time to explore the worlds of multi-player, play in LAN tournaments eating Doritos from sun up to sun down.  Sorry LAN players.  Playing video games while staying at grandmas is becoming a thing of the past.  Blizzard delivered on everything I wanted as a single player.  You want a good game, Starcraft 2 delivers.

Apple BUMPER case in the mail.

It’s official. I have now taken part in what has to be the worst PR debacle of my generation. Self-fulfilling prophecy? Perhaps. But it’s always nice to get something for free. Or is it?

New TRON LEGACY Trailer

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Tron is coming out this Christmas and like its predecessor, it’s building up a lot of hype until it’s release. Whoever put together these trailers deserves a medal. It’s not easy making Disney stuff look UNDisney. Enjoy!

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Can you imagine a world where all you need is one wire protocol to deliver blueray content in less than 30 seconds? Well you better start. Light Peak technology developed by Intel is about to do just that.
